Controller Job Description
The Controller is responsible for the accounting functions of the organization, including maintaining complete and accurate accounting records, preparation of periodic financial and operating reports and maintaining a comprehensive system of internal control to mitigate risk and add integrity to the Foundation?s financial results.
Primary responsibilities include
1. Manage and perform the accounting functions 2. Issue timely and complete financial reports, including GAAP based financial statements and financial and operational management reports 3. Assist and advise directors on the development fundraising budgets and performance metrics 4. Prepare monthly financial and fundraising reconciliations 5. Maintain a system of internal controls over accounting transactions 6. Maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures 7. Maintain the chart of accounts 8. Manage outsourced accounting and other service functions 9. Maintain the accounting source documents 10. Provide assistance, as required, for the annual audit
Additional responsibilities include
1. Implement a new accounting software package 2. Assist the Chief Financial Officer and President with other Foundation infrastructure development
Desired qualifications include
1. Bachelor's degree in accounting, masters degree in accounting or business administration preferred 2. Certified Public Accountant 3. Minimum of ten years experience including a minimum of five years experience with a public accounting firm, national firm experience preferred and accounting and systems experience preferred 4. Professional communications and interpersonal skills
