Those who work in the Health and Benefits Sales organization at Paychex are involved in a dynamic, fast-paced, goal-oriented environment. Fast Lane to the Future

The District Sales Manager (DSM) position in the Health and Benefits Field Sales Division is responsible for the success of their assigned district. DSM's are responsible for recruiting, training, developing and most importantly leading their Sales Agents.  H&B Sales Agents work within assigned territories to achieve corporate objectives. They sell group insurance plans, primarily Health, Dental, Vision and Life, through national and local carriers. Not only do they make calls to present Paychex products to end users, typically 2-3 per day, but also they develop a referral network among Paychex' internal sales forces to assist in increasing their client base. Teleprospecting and relationship building with referral sources is a large part of their daily path to success. It is the DSM's role to do everything possible to remove obstacles for their sales people, develop their skill sets and lead them to success. 

All Agency personnel receive extensive training at our University of Paychex, Training and Development Center in Rochester, New York. Continued competency is measured by successful attainment of district sales objectives, retention of personnel, developing sales personnel to management and overall contribution to the Region.

 Job Requirements

   Under the guidance of Regional Sales Manager and within corporate guidelines:

 

  • Manages the achievement of corporate objectives - assigned quotas - by individual product line within area of district responsibility and within budgeted financial guidelines.
  • Recruits, selects and directs sales staff in meeting or exceeding corporate goals. Monitors attainment versus forecast and takes corrective action when necessary.
  • Identifies potential management candidates and brings to the attention of the Regional Sales Manager
  • Manages line by line items of corporate assigned budgets.
  • Projects a positive image in representing the corporation to clients and the community.
  • Cultivates and develops through the sales staff a referral network among the certified public accountants community, enrolled agents and bookkeepers.
  • Works with branch managers to develop mutual objectives and problem-solving issues using partnership principles.
  • Ensures accuracy of weekly activity reports and audits commission and expense reports.
  • Initiates, participates in, and supervises on-going training of assigned sales representatives in technical knowledge, competitive knowledge, and sales skills knowledge.

Mandatory Experience Requirements:

* Group Health Insurance sales experience
* Documented track record of success in group benefits industry
* PEO Sales/Management experience a plus
* Experience in successfully leading a team of B2B sales representatives or agents
