JOB SUMMARY:
Performs a wide variety of tasks including set-up, operation and maintenance or repair of various equipment in the manufacturing area. Responsible for process control, manual assembly and any support tasks required to produce finished products to quality, cost and schedule specifications by performing the following duties:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:(Other duties may be assigned.) Communicates with Quality Control on daily quality issues. Participates in technical and mechanical work that is required to keep the machines operating until optimum cycles and acceptable quality have been achieved.
As necessary, pulls molds for service and sets up molds to run in molding machines. Performs mechanical work on machines or mold parts to assemble and disassemble parts. Reports machine and tooling issues to supervisor. Assists material handlers, at times, by transporting raw plastic material bags or raw plastic material obtained from gaylords in buckets or boxes and placing it into a hopper at the machines.
Troubleshoots and optimizes equipment for maximum cycle time efficiency. Maintains machine efficiency rates. Pulls and replaces and starts tools when production run is complete. Makes process adjustments when parts are not within the quality specifications. Keeps work areas clean of oil, rags, cans and water and removes all purged plastic. Documents machine process settings and processes changes with required forms. Performs minor repairs to machines such as fixing water leaks, oil leaks, adjusting sprue pickers and helps the Maintenance Supervisor when needed.
Answers all alarms and helps operators when in need of assistance.
Supervisory Responsibilities: This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
Other Responsibilities: Helps maintain proper safety conditions by complying with safety standards, inspecting equipment and notifying Shift Supervisor of needed repairs or any other safety issue. Reports safety violations, near misses and accidents to supervisor. Complies with all corporate rules and policies. Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and/or Experience: &nbs p;
High school diploma or GED / Minimum of 2 years injection molding experience required.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: No certificates, licenses or registrations required.
Language Skills: Must be able to speak and read English. Must have the ability to read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers. Must have the ability to print and speak simple sentences.
Mathematical Skills: &nbs p; &nb sp; Must have the ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Must have the ability to perform these operations using units of weight measurement, volume and distance.
Computer Skills: Knowledge of contact management software, internet software, Microsoft Excel spreadsheet software and Microsoft Word word-processing software is preferred.
Reasoning Ability: &nbs p; &nb sp; Must have the ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions. Must have the ability to deal with standardized situations.
Physical Demands: &nbs p; &nb sp; While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to work on machinery. The employee is frequently required to stand and walk. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Work Environment: &nbs p; &nb sp; While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts.
